Abstract
A dynamic analytical model is developed to simulate the performance of switched reluctance motors (SRM). This model decouples the parameters in an equivalent electric circuit into several one-argument functions which are dependent on current or rotor position only. This paper also proposes a novel approach for the computation of the air gap permeance at various rotor positions. As an application example, an 8/6 pole SRM is simulated in the time domain. The results are compared with transient FE analysis.
