Abstract

With the rapid development of fire safety science and technologies, fire engineering systems are used more intelligently in China to provide better fire safety. Products much more suitable for local use at affordable cost are developed. Fire suppression systems commonly used are reviewed and briefly introduced in this article. A smoke management system is now becoming more important and specified for buildings with new architectural features. Two new areas of using nanocomposite fire retardant materials and intelligent fire detection systems based on pattern-recognition will be introduced as examples.
