Abstract

To study the transient electromagnetic forces acting on the stator end-windings of large turbogenerators under different operating conditions, a numerical model and method coupling three-dimensional (3D) finite element and lumped circuit equation are proposed. The proposed model and method are employed to study extensively the electromagnetic forces acting on the stator end-windings of a 600 MW turbogenerator.
