Abstract

For a long time, aesthetic studies in design have championed tangible physical artefacts. However, when interaction comes to the fore as a design focus, most of the traditional aesthetic theories seem to lose their grasp. The aim of the current study is to create a comprehensive and ‘meaningful’ intermediary between user and the environment by exploring the design principle Equilibrium. To follow this altered design focus, to achieve an approach towards better user interactive experiences eventually, this study implements a method to convert this concept into a key aesthetic factor. To interaction designers, this principle potentially provides them a new tool that supports mapping and visualizing the information and the interrelationship between the user and the environment, including the former’s existence (profile & characteristic), goals, cognitive conceptions, movements, activities, and socio-cultural contexts.
