Abstract
中国封建社会男性对女性小脚的痴迷在沈复的《浮生六记》中也有所表现，而在林语堂的译文中已不见沈复钟爱的"三寸金莲"，原文中"三寸金莲"的意象丢失了。原因是：译者不仅受到两种语言差别的限制，还受到文化层面的制约，而意识形态则是又一个影响文本意象的重要因素。
Men in Chinese feudal society were obsessed with women's bound feet, and this can be seen in Shen Fu's Six Chapters of a Floating Life. This important image, however, is lost in Lin Yü-tang's English translation. The reasons behind this phenomenon are that translators are constrained not only by linguistic differences between two languages but also by cultural factors, including ideology.
