Special Recognition Award 2020 “Nurses Make a Difference in COVID-19 Pandemic”

Nurses play a crucial role in combating the challenges of COVID-19 pandemic. Hong Kong Academy of Nursing (HKAN) recognizes and in honor of the extraordinary contributions of HKAN Fellow Member, Ordinary Member or Associate Member to nursing and/or the society during the COVID-19 pandemic period, special recognition awards will be offered.

Award to the Selected Awardees
•Selected Awardees will be invited to attend the 1st International Advanced Practice Nursing Conference 2021 with free registration.
•The Awardees will be presented with recognition certificates and trophies from the Hong Kong Academy of Nursing in the closing ceremony of the 1st International Advanced Practice Nursing Conference 2021.
•The Awardees will also receive complimentary guest tickets to attend the “1st International Nursing Day Dinner cum 1st International Advanced Practice Nursing Conference Gala Dinner 2021”.
Criteria
1.The nominees must be a Fellow Member / Ordinary Member of the Hong Kong Academy of Nursing (HKAN) or Associate Member of the Academy Colleges.
2.The nominees can be self-nominated, or nominated by another member of HKAN.
3.The nominee must give consent to be nominated.
4.Both nominator and nominee must be Fellows / Ordinary Member of the HKAN or Associate Member of the Academy Colleges.
5.Nominations must be submitted to HKAN on or before 31 October 2020.
6.Self-nominations/ Nominations should address the following:
a.Describe the extraordinary contribution of the nominee as a role model and contributor to nursing and/or to the society during the COVID-19 pandemic period.
b.Describe the significant impact of the work during the COVID-19 pandemic period to nursing and/or to the society.
Vetting

A vetting panel including medical, nursing and social leaders will be formed.

Each nominee will be scored from 1-5 on the following two factors by the 3 panel members:
1.Demonstrated extraordinary contributions to nursing during the COVID-19 pandemic period in Hong Kong as a role model and/or contributor; and
2.The positive impact of their previously described work during the COVID-19 pandemic period in Hong Kong influencing nursing, and the society.
The result with the average scores at least ≥ 4 rated by the 3 vetting panel members with the highest score will be the Awardee(s).
