The CRSS Bronze Medal Award was established in 2009 as an early-career achievement award to recognise emerging excellence in remote sensing in Canada. Nominations are invited for outstanding candidates from any sector (e.g. industry, government, university) who are 40 years of age or less, as of December 31 of the year of the Award. Dr Wai Yeung Yan of the Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics (LSGI) has received the 2020 CRSS Bronze Medal Award from the Canadian Remote Sensing Society (CRSS) in recognition of his early career research achievement in remote sensing in Canada, particularly with respect to his contributions in airborne LiDAR data correction, normalization, and classification.
