Description

Miss CHUNG Ka Man (Carmen), who is a graduate student of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE), received the champion of CILTHK Logistics & Transport Student Final Year Project Award 2018, an open competition by The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport Hong Kong (CILTHK). Carmen, who gradated from BSc (Hons) in Logistics Engineering with Management (LEM) programme in 2018, won the competition with her final year project titled “A Taguchi-based Cold Chain Packaging System for Managing Multi-temperature Food Distribution in Multi-national Third-party Logistics Companies”, which was supervised by Dr KL Choy. The project made use of the Taguchi-based experiment settings to optimize the hybrid cold chain packaging for handling multi-temperature food distribution. Due to the growth of perishable food e-commerce, the proposed method is valuable in providing a reliable and effective temporary storage environment during the last mile delivery. The proposed method was also validated through the case study in multi-national logistics companies, and thus the work is deemed to be feasible and practical for the industrial uses.
