Zhuangchai Lai is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Applied Physics at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He received his B.S. degree in material chemistry, M.E. degree in industrial catalysis, and Ph.D. degree in materials science from Sun Yat-sen University (2009), South China University of Technology (2012), and Nanyang Technological University (2018), respectively. After receiving the Ph.D. degree, he worked as a Postdoc Research Fellow in the Prof. Hua Zhang’s group for more than three years. His current research interests include the controlled synthesis and characterization of novel 2D materials (e.g., transition metal dichalcogenides) with unusual phases and the heterostructures/composites, as well as their applications in electrocatalysis, energy conversion and storage, electronics, etc.
