Biography

Dr. Gao received his B.S. in 2012 and Ph.D degree in 2018 in the Department of Mathematics at Harbin Institute of Technology. From September 2015 to April 2017, he studied in the Department of Mathematics at Duke University as a visiting student. He was a postdoctoral fellow in The University of Hong Kong from June 2018 to June 2020. From June 2020 to now, he worked as a research assistant professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Dr. Gao’s research interest lies in nonlinear partial differential equations, especially kinetic equations and integrable systems. His thesis was selected as one of the Excellent Doctoral Theses of Harbin Institute of Technology, and won the Gold Medal of Doctoral Thesis for New World Mathematics Awards in 2018.

Dr. Gao was the instructor for MATH4404 (Functional Analysis) at The University of Hong Kong, and one of the lecturers for AMA2111 (Mathematics I) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
