Wayne is a researcher and clinical practitioner specialized in geriatric physiotherapy. His key research areas include falls prevention, chronic disease self-management, clinical physical assessments for older adults, particularly those with cognitive impairment, dementia, frailty and multi-morbidities. 

He completed a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Master of Science in Clinical Gerontology and PhD in Medical Sciences (Geriatrics) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He was awarded the SH Ho Fellowship to support his PhD study in geriatrics. His doctoral research investigated the effectiveness of the Chronic Disease Self-Management Program for older adults with chronic conditions, and the effectiveness of a comprehensive exercise program for older adults with an increased risk of falls. He also concurrently assisted the research on the community-based rehabilitation programs for older adults with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and chronic heart failure. After finishing his PhD degree, he worked as a frontline physiotherapist serving frail older adults living in the community and long-term care facilities. Meanwhile, he investigated the applicability and psychometric properties of physical performance assessments for older adults with dementia

Translating research findings into daily clinical practice and improving the quality of life for older adults and their caregivers have been his goal as a clinical researcher and geriatric physiotherapy practitioner.
