Personal profile


Professor Pauline Cho obtained her Bachelor and PhD degrees from the School of Optometry at the University of New South Wales, Australia and University of Bradford, UK, respectively. She joined the Hong Kong Polytechnic in 1988. She obtained her Masters degree in Professional, Vocational and Higher Education at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2003. Professor Cho teaches Contact Lens Practice and in 2002, she was a recipient of the Department's Teaching Excellence Award. She was the winner of the Most Active New Consultant Award of PTeC's Outstanding Professional Services and Innovations Award 2008. She was the Programme Leader of the Master of Science in Optometry Programme at the School of Optometry, PolyU. She is currently the Programme Team Leader for the Continuing Education Courses for Part III/IV Optometrists in Hong Kong.

Professor Cho was Deputy Director of the Contact Lens Education and Research Unit of the School of Optometry from 2006 to 2007. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and British Contact Lens Association, an Honorary Member of Association of Malaysian Optometrists and a Regional Editor (Asia) of the Journal of “Contact Lens and Anterior Eye”.

Apart from academic and research achievement, Professor Cho has been participating in various community and voluntary services. She is currently the International Service Director of the Rotary Club of Kowloon North and she organizes annual vision screening for ethnic minority children and visits to leprosy villages in Guangxi, China.
