Biography
Prof. M. S. Wong is a Professor and serves as an Associate Head (Academic) in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He chairs the Departmental Learning and Teaching Committee and Jockey Club Rehabilitation Engineering Service at PolyU. He is a clinician as well as an engineer. He has been practising in the public and private sectors of the prosthetic and orthotic services over 25 years. His main research interests are scoliosis, spinal orthotics, prevention of fragility fractures, gait and posture analysis, CAD/CAM in prosthetics and orthotics, and prosthetics and orthotics outcome evaluation.
He acted as the Scientific Committee Chair and Executive Board Member of International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO), and Executive Board Member of International Research Society of Spinal Deformities (IRSSD).
He has >250 peer-review publications, >100 invited lectures and >25 research students. His vision is to promote evidence-based P&O practices via comprehensive didactic and clinical education, continuous professional development and concerted clinical research in order to improve the quality of life of the people with physical disabilities.
