Research Assistant Professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). Previously Research Assistant Professor at HKUST. Completed postdoctoral training at UW-Madison, studying the ecology and evolution of human gut pathogens. Obtained Ph.D., M.Phil., and B.Eng. degrees (with academic achievement medal) in chemical & biomolecular engineering from HKUST in 2022, 2019, and 2017, respectively. Current research focuses on high-throughput investigation of pathogens-microbiome interactions to design anti-pathogen consortia, and host-microbiome interactions, in particular related to metabolic diseases. Other research interests include studying how interactions with commensal microbes affect pathogens’ adaptation to perturbations, the evolution of antibiotic tolerance and resistance, and multi-omics. Published 19 papers (16 as first/corresponding author) in top journals including Nature Communications, Cell Host & Microbe, and Environmental Science & Technology, with 590+ total citations and an h-index of 10 (Google Scholar). Recipient of 21 prominent local and international awards. Co-wrote an NIH R01 grant and a successful RGC GRF grant proposal.
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
