Ir. Dr. Wong is currently a research assistant professor at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering in The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He received his undergraduate degree (BSc) in Biomedical Engineering (prosthetics/orthotics and bioengineering) in 2007, MPhil and PhD degrees in biomedical engineering in 2010 and 2014, respectively. Duo was trained as a biostatistician and epidemiologist in the Master of Public Health study from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Currently, he engages teaching covering topics on Research Methods, Scientific Writing, Ontology/Epistemology, Biostatistics/Epidemiology, Engineering Design Process, Biomechatronics, Computer-aided Design and Engineering, and Digital Health.
The research interest of Dr. Wong preliminarily targets on biomechanics, especially computational orthopaedics of the foot and ankle. He developed computational models (finite element models and musculoskeletal models) to explore the pathomechanism of foot and ankle disorders and to evaluate surgical and orthotic treatments. He also collaborates with coaches and athletes on the area of sports science, physical medicine, and rehabilitation. On the other hand, Duo also focuses on health innovations and the applications of digital health technologies, including accessible health monitoring, computer-aided screening, virtual rehabilitation, interactive visualization and machine learning for medical imaging.
Duo published 90+ peer-review journal articles (H-index of 25 in Google Scholar, One ESI highly cited paper) in numerous top-tier journals, including Journal of Sports and Health Science, Science China – Life Science, Sports Medicine – Open, Journal of Orthopaedic Translation, Bone and Joint Journal, etc, in addition to 11 book chapters and 6 patents. He received secured the Shanghai-Hong Kong Science and Technology Collaboration Project Fund and participated in several large-scale projects, including NSFC general and key projects, Innovation and Technology Fund Projects, and National Key Research Program of China.
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
Public Health, Master of Public Health, Chinese University of Hong Kong
