Biography

Dr Dahua Shou is Limin Endowed Young Scholar in Advanced Textiles Technologies (利民先進紡織科技青年學者席) under the University’s Endowed Young Scholars Scheme, an Assistant Professor of School of Fashion and Textiles (SFT), and a member of Research Institute for Intelligent Wearable Systems (RI-IWEAR), Research Institute for Smart Energy (RISE) and Research Institute for Sports Science and Technology (RISports), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He serves as the Head of Future Intelligent Wear Centre (未來智慧穿戴中心), SZRI.

Dr Shou gained his PhD from PolyU and studied at The University of Sydney as an exchange PhD student. Prior to joining SFT, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow consecutively at The University of Sydney and Cornell University.

Dr Shou has been invited to be an Editorial Member of 4 Q1 and 2 Q2 SCI journals. He has obtained the Publons Global Peer Review Awards and served as an External Examiner for oversea PhD dissertations and competitive research funds. He has also been invited to be a Session Chair, Keynote Speaker, and Program Committee Member for international conferences and industry workshops.

Dr Shou ranks among Top 2% Scientists Worldwide 2022 (Career & Single Year) by Stanford University. He has received many reputed prizes including TechConnect Global Innovation Awards and Geneva Invention Awards. He has also been recognized as a Vebleo Fellow in 2021.

Dr Shou's research focuses on Advanced Textiles, Smart Wearables, and Thermal and Moisture Management, and his team is exploring iFiber: Interface, Fibers, Intelligence, Bioinspiration, Energy, and Robotics, to increase understanding and optimize performance of body-environment and/or human-machine interface for Human Argumentation, based on advanced and sustainable fibrous materials, intelligent models and algorithms, bioinspired design, energy harvesting and conversion, and soft robotics. Over 60 peer-review papers have been published in prestigious journals such as Science Advances, PNAS, Advanced Energy Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, Langmuir, Physical Review E, and International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer. In 2021-2022, 3 US patents have been granted. He has led 18 research grants (as PI) from RGC, ITF, ECF, Industry, and PolyU.
