Dr Dahua Shou is Limin Endowed Young Scholar in Advanced Textiles Technologies (under the University’s Endowed Young Scholars Scheme), an Assistant Professor of Institute of Textiles and Clothing and a member of Research Institute for Intelligent Wearable Systems and Research Institute for Smart Energy, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He gained his PhD from PolyU and studied at The University of Sydney as an exchange PhD student. Prior to joining Institute of Textiles and Clothing, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow consecutively at School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering, The University of Sydney and Department of Fiber Science & Apparel Design, Cornell University.

Dr Shou's research interests include tunable heat and mass transfer, personal thermal and moisture management, wearable technologies and smart clothing for enhanced comfort and performance, and mechanistic modeling and optimization. His research team is focusing on iFiber: Interface, Fibers, Intelligence, Bioinspiration, Energy, and Robotics, to increase understanding and optimize performance of body-environment and/or human-machine interface, based on advanced fibrous materials, intelligent models and algorithms, bioinspired design, energy harvesting and conversion, and soft robotics. He has published over 60 peer-review papers in prestigious journals such as Physical Review E, Science Advances, PNAS, Advanced Energy Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, Langmuir, and International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer in the field. He has obtained many reputed prizes including TechConnect Global Innovation Awards and Geneva Invention Awards. He has been awarded Vebleo Fellow in 2021. Currently he holds 6 granted patents in China and USA, and files 5 US/PCT patent applications. His research is mainly supported by RGC, ITF, ECF, Industry, and PolyU.

Dr Shou serves as an Associate Editor, Editorial Board Member, or Guest Editor of a few international (SCI) journals. He has reviewed more than 190 papers for over 50 academic journals and obtained the Publons Global Peer Review Awards. He has also served as an External Examiner or Reviewer for oversea PhD dissertations and research funds. He has been invited to be a Session Chair, Keynote Speaker, or Program Committee Member for several international conferences and industry workshops. He is appointed as the Assistant Director of the PolyU – DRRC Novel Material Science and Technology Innovation Center.
