Personal profile

Biography

I hold a Ph.D. in Imaging and Interventional Radiology from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, specializing in imaging human adipose tissue and abdominal ectopic fat using MRI and ultrasound. My research has been published in reputable journals, with two articles recognized as highly influential by Semantic Scholar. This experience has sharpened my technical skills, critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork.

I also hold a master’s degree in Magnetic Resonance Technology from The University of Queensland, a Postgraduate Diploma in Basic and Advanced Ultrasound from The Global Open University, a Certification in Ultrasound from Thomas Jefferson University, a BSc in Radiography from Queen Margaret University, and a Diploma in Radiography from Evelyn Hone College. I am a member of the Health Professions Council of Zambia.

With over 15 years of experience in general radiography, CT, MRI, and ultrasound, I bring practical insights to my teaching, enriching students' learning with real-world examples. I have supervised undergraduate research projects, mentoring students through the research process.

I have supported first-year radiography students with special educational needs by providing extra tutorial time and open access for additional help, improving their participation and results.

I have served on the Research Committee at Konkola Copper Hospital, organizing monthly CPD meetings for over 10 years. I am also a member of the Radiological Society of Zambia's research committee, organizing yearly symposiums, and an executive member of Radiology Without Borders, which conducts weekly ultrasound discussions and case reviews. Additionally, I was on the Scientific Committee of the International Society of Radiographers and Radiological Technologists (ISSR), organizing the 2024 World Congress in Hong Kong. I review for journals such as Obesity Journal, European Radiology, and Pediatric Obesity.

Having studied and worked in Zambia, Scotland, India, Australia, and Hong Kong, I have developed a deep respect for diversity and the ability to work well with people from various ethnic backgrounds. As a church elder and academic advisor to students, I continue to uphold principles of equality and respect.

Teaching

In my current role as a Research Assistant Professor at The Hong Kong Polytechnic university, I have gained substantial teaching experience. I have been privileged to be a tutor in Human anatomy to first year radiography students. My whole work life has been in imaging with a bias to general radiography, Ultrasound and MRI.

In collaboration with others, we introduced a component of ‘virtual reality and immersive learning environment’ to advance gross anatomy teaching and consolidate student understanding of the subject. The team was awarded a grant to achieve this task. Besides, I was awarded digital literacy and GenAI grants to aid in teaching anatomy. Using these tools, students learning and understanding of the subject was enhanced.

As a member of the teaching team in Human anatomy, I have been privileged to help in reorganizing the course outline and participate in the formulation of new case scenarios to enhance student learning and assessment. Also, I participate in subject meetings that include results discussion/ moderation, content formulation etc.
