Organisation profile

HTI is the youngest Department in the Faculty of Health and Social Science at PolyU. However, it hosts Medical Laboratory Science and Radiography–two well-established healthcare disciplines whose tertiary education has a long history of over 35 years in Hong Kong and was first started by the predecessor of PolyU in 1978. The unique combination of these two healthcare disciplines in one department enables us to share expertise, complement each other and excel in both academic programmes and research.

We offers both BSc(Hons) and MSc programmes in these two healthcare disciplines. Working with both our local and overseas collaborating institutes, we are dedicated to inspiring and nurturing our students to achieve academic excellence, and equipping them with professional competence and global perspective. We aspire to produce the best graduates in these two disciplines in Asia and globally.

Research underpins teaching and learning. We strive to excel in research in biomedical science, radiation science and medical imaging. We conduct both basic and translational research under five thematic research areas. Our research laboratories are equipped with advanced instruments for high-impact research work. In addition to working with researchers within the University, we also collaborate with top-notch scholars around the globe. We supervise research students by drawing expertise from within and outside the Department as appropriate.

You are most welcome to visit our departmental webpages for information related to our academic programmes, thematic research areas and the research interests of our academic colleagues.
