‘Innovative Retail and Service Design’ International Forum with Three International Universities.’

As an initiative event in September 2024, the event will feature three main scholars: Professor Seo-Yeon Yoon from the Department of Human-Centered Design at Cornell University, Professor Yuri Lee from the Center for Retail Innovation at Seoul National University, and Dr. Hee Sun (Sunny) Choi from the Human-Centered Design Lab in the School of Design at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. These scholars have endeavored to create an interesting triangular network and relationship to share ongoing multidisciplinary research.

The forum, involving three departments from these universities, will introduce innovative retail and service design using specific case studies based on spatial and virtual experiences and users’ behavior patterns within specific retail environments. It will also explore users’ perception and cognition to understand various conditions of retail spatial environments and design.

The forum will present various research approaches, methods, and tools, both quantitative and qualitative, to extend its potential for future research and projects. This will not only cover the fields of ‘Retail’ and ‘Service Design’ but also ‘Spatial Design’ and ‘Spatial Cognition’ as part of Human-Centered Design, adapting to changes in our built environments.
