This study takes the initiation of Master of Interaction Design program and ITIDLab at Monash University as a case study to present a unique approach to ‘innovative design.’ This initiation concerns with how the latest interactive technologies, physical computing and the ‘smart’ trend would affect the future industry, with a focus on interactive products, systems, services, and related innovative applications. The primary objective of ITIDLab activities is to maximize the benefits to society of the most advanced information and interaction technologies by integrating Industrial Design theories with Interaction Design theories and related applications.
