Development of Design Social research to leverage individual research and teaching potentials and increase collaborative research within SD, identifying common synergies and cross-disciplinary collaborations. It builds expertise for potential agency as a social / participatory design focused platform. Further work done on grant and funding mechanisms through non-RGC avenues, and discussions with CMAO, APSS and external collaborators (University of Johannesburg, UTS Sydney, Delft and University of Westminster). Now active for PhD research within the school, in the past two years over 40% of applicants submitted proposals aligned with Design Social and of these 6 have specifically applied as they have followed the work of In-situ Project.
