Description

matflow2019 : MAT&FLOW 2019
Acoustic treatments remain one of the most effective ways of reducing noise emissions from many applications, including aircraft engines, ventilation systems and automotive systems. In all these applications, the acoustic treatment is influenced by an air flow. It is still difficult to predict the acoustic effects of a liner in the presence of high sound levels and flows. The Mat&Flow event combines a training course and a research workshop on the interactions between acoustic materials and flows. The training event is a graduate-level course in the fundamental and applied aspects of duct acoustics and liners for sound absorption. It will cover the theoretical models, experimental techniques and computational methods required to understand, predict and control sound fields in ducts using acoustic liners. A particular emphasis will be placed on the importance of the air flow present in these duct systems. Taught by leading academics in this field, the course is intended for researchers and engineers. The research workshop is focused on the fundamental and applied aspects of sound attenuation by liners with flow and large sound pressure levels. In particular, submissions are invited in the following areas:[1] Analytic, numerical and empirical methods for predicting liner effects with flow or high sound levels.[2] Measurement of liner effects, techniques and applications.[3] Novel liner concepts, passive and adaptive. The main objective of the workshop is to encourage discussions within the research community on these still controversial subjects.
